Events at KCCs abroad

Between 30 May and 1 June, the Debrecen edition of the Night of Literature offered audiences a unique journey through world literature, with actors and actresses reading excerpts from works by 26 authors representing 26 countries. Over three evenings, the readings unfolded in unconventional venues throughout the city center, adding a distinctive atmosphere to the cultural experience.

The Korean segment of the program was curated by the Korean Cultural Center in Hungary. On 30 May, at the Libertine Bookshop, Vivien Edelényi—an actress of the Csokonai Theatre in Debrecen—read an excerpt from Welcome to the Hyunam-dong Bookshop, a best-selling novel by Hwang Boreum. The reading attracted 233 attendees, reflecting strong local interest in and enthusiasm for Korean literature and culture.

The Night of Literature continues in Budapest from 4 to 6 June, promising another exciting chapter in this celebration of global literary voices.
